Roger Hatrick-Smith.

Director, Virtual CFO and Management Accounting Services

Roger is a Chartered Accountant although for most of his career he has been advising businesses and owners on how to solve problems, beat the odds and get ahead. When working with clients his primary focus is you the owner and what you can and could achieve with your business. Often it’s your main investment so he encourages his clients to think about how to build value, how to get it right and the right time to look to exit.

Roger owns a start-up company himself and has investments in more established businesses so he knows what it’s like. Roger has assisted businesses across most industry sectors from retail, manufacturing, services, real- estate as well as many start-up companies across IT, Biotech and primary resources sectors.

Prior to founding Acclime New Zealand Roger was a partner in Ernst & Young in charge of the Entrepreneurial Services and Transaction Advisory service lines.

Andy Archer.

Director, Taxation and Entertainment Services

Andy is a vastly experienced, pragmatic taxation expert who deals with busy people to solve their personal and corporate taxation issues, and to identify and capture opportunities. This includes domestic, outbound and inbound businesses, with a speciality in trans-Tasman ventures. Matching this, Andy brings his strong personal and business acumen to provide commercially aligned outcomes, with an emphasis on how to create and build value for owners.

Prior to joining Acclime New Zealand, Andy was a senior partner at Ernst & Young with leadership roles in international tax and managing key accounts. His client serving experience has been within financial services, investment banks, private equity, property, utilities, primary resources, and privately owned businesses in diverse fields. Andy also has a long track record in leadership and advising within the Not-for-Profit sector, more recently with NZ National Parks & Conservation Foundation, and Diabetes New Zealand Inc.

Andy is a member of CAANZ, Impact Investing, and International Fiscal Association, and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree and Diploma in Accounting from VUW.

Claire Dilks.

Director, Taxation Services

Claire started her tax career in the UK and since migrating to NZ has enjoyed over 20 years corporate tax experience, including a 2-year secondment to Australia. Prior to joining Acclime New Zealand, Claire worked at Ernst & Young and Baker Tilly. She is a highly regarded tax practitioner whose clients respect and trust her for the way she understands their commercial constraints, working closely with them to find workable tax pathways and solutions.

Claire has a particular knack and interest in communicating complex tax concepts to her clients in a readily accessible way. Claire is experienced across a wide range of business sectors including retirement, aged care, film, property, banking, finance and charities.

Claire’s specialties include the commercial tax management of financial arrangements, land transactions, GST, charity tax and compliance, international tax, M&A, structure consulting, tax effect accounting, IRD liaison and dispute management. Claire is a CPA member; she holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB Hons) and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from Birmingham City University. Always happy to talk tax in a commercial context, Claire would love to talk with you about maximising your opportunities.

Hamish Chang.

Director, Virtual CFO and Management Accounting Services

Hamish is a dynamic leader who heads the top-performing Virtual CFO and Management Accounting team at Acclime New Zealand, an industry leader in financial services. With his razor-sharp focus on enhancing business performance, Hamish and his team provide invaluable insights into key value factors that drive growth and assist clients in making informed decisions. With Hamish you will get regular and timely reporting of dashboard performance reports that will help you improve and lift systems and processes, budgets and cash-flow management, and forecast three-way scenarios. He collaborates closely with clients on the key levers that will make their business perform better and grow, achieve stronger cash flow and improve profitability.

Hamish’s acumen flows out of his first-hand experience with many private businesses, some that have failed, some that have been turnarounds, and a good number that have lifted off their respectful runways! With a proven track record of excellence, Hamish is sought after as a trusted advisor which he has developed from his accountabilities at board meetings as CFO for his clients. His broad experience includes advising businesses in Wellington and Melbourne from start-ups to NZX listed companies. Hamish gets on with people. He is engaging and personable, with a strong sense of purpose and service. His expertise and commitment to delivering unparalleled results make him the ideal partner for businesses of all sizes and industries.

With membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, Hamish holds an accounting degree from the University of Otago, Dunedin.

Adam Neoh.

Director, Financial Accounting Services

Adam leads the Financial Accounting team at Acclime New Zealand that delivers compliance accounting, tax and secretarial services across an extensive portfolio of businesses. His team undertakes regular accounting tasks for the clients as well as year- end financial statements, tax and corporate compliance work and work closely together with the Acclime New Zealand tax team to devise different ways and better outcomes for businesses and business owners.

Adam’s pragmatic approach and his reliability always gives the clients a sense of assurance and peace of mind that the business accounting compliance and tax obligation are met. You will also benefit from Adam’s very considerable experience dealing with and helping all manner of investors, business variations and sell downs. His exceptional interpersonal skills have enabled him to integrate with clients and develop valuable relationships over time.

Prior to joining Acclime New Zealand, Adam worked as an auditor both in New Zealand and overseas. Adam is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Phil Gore.

Director, Entertainment Services

Phil has worked almost exclusively in the screen industry since 2002, and in this time has built up a wealth of knowledge, networks and experience in advising numerous international and domestic productions. This includes 8 years working as a freelance production accountant in both Australia and New Zealand, before specialising in screen and entertainment industry advisory work with Acclime New Zealand.

His production accounting experience combined with his extensive chartered accountancy career means Phil is uniquely positioned to advise clients on their incentive, accounting, tax and other requirements over the life- cycle of their productions. He has a particular interest in the NZ screen incentive, the NZ Screen Production Grant, and has a close working relationship with the NZ Film Commission through project-managing and vetting numerous grant applications.

Phil is passionate about the industry and is currently a Board member (and Treasurer) of the Directors and Editors Guild of Aotearoa New Zealand and the Screen Music and Sound Guild of New Zealand, and he has also presented at various industry courses for producers and production accountants. Phil is a member of Chartered Accountants of Australia & New Zealand and has separately been a chartered accountant/advisor to a portfolio of entrepreneurial clients and their businesses.

Angelo Tomlinson.

Senior Manager, Fund Administration and Cosec Services

Angelo began his career in one of the largest banks in South Africa, First National Bank of SA. After a seven-year stint in the bank, Angelo worked for Citibank London for three years where he worked in their treasury division. He started his role as Senior Manager, Fund Administration at Acclime New Zealand in January 2020.

Angelo has multi-jurisdiction AML/CFT compliance experience and is responsible for AML/CFT compliance, investor onboarding, investor registry, and investor distributions for fund clients. His solid background in compliance has assisted Angelo in heading up the company secretarial division at Acclime New Zealand. Services include formation of companies and partnerships with the NZ Companies Office ( NZCO), acting as a registered office, filing of all required documents on time at the NZCO and maintaining all required company records on file.

Angelo holds a Bachelor of Commerce Specialising in Management Accounting from the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Randolph van der Burgh.

Regional Director Australasia & Director, Taxation and Financial Services

Randolph’s global experience in financial services, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, group restructuring and international tax planning spans 30 years. Before merging his business into Acclime New Zealand, he was an international tax partner at Ernst & Young advising clients in sectors ranging from financial services, investment banking, private equity, wealth management, insurance, property, mining, dairy, forestry, FMCG, IT, retail, to entertainment.

Randolph specialises in international tax planning, structuring domestic and cross border property funds, infrastructure funds, mortgage funds, VC and PE funds, and alternative asset investment funds, including related investment products for retail and wholesale investors. He has advised on a range of group restructurings, transfer pricing, structuring global supply chains, M&A deals, debt, equity, and hybrid capital markets products for private equity and property funds.

Randolph sits on the board of several private investment groups and is a private venture capital investor. Randolph is a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration (First Class Honours) degree from Victoria University, Wellington.

David Venter.

Director, Financial Accounting Services

David leads the Financial Accounting team at Acclime New Zealand that delivers compliance accounting, tax and other services across an extensive portfolio. His team undertakes regular accounting and reporting tasks, including year-end financial statements, income tax returns, GST and other corporate compliance requirements.

David uses his vast experience from different business sectors and economies to deliver holistic and practical solutions to his clients. Driven by his interest in computer science and emerging technologies, he is constantly seeking ways to improve efficiencies and make a positive impact to his clients’ businesses. Prior to joining Acclime, David spent 4 years leading a successful regional compliance practice. Prior to that he was Head of Accounting at Volkswagen Financial Services South Africa. David commenced his career at EY working his way up the roles within the External Audit and Tax teams.

David is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science and Higher Diploma in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Andrea Leeper.

Director, Fund Accounting Services

Andrea has managed the Fund Management Accounting team providing fund establishment and fund administration services to a range of NZ, government, and offshore investors since joining Acclime in April 2021. She also is the CFO for First Light Capital and is responsible for First Light Capital’s overall financial management, reporting and policies, ensuring the compliance of its accounting and tax practices.

Prior to joining Acclime, Andrea worked at Baker Tilly New Zealand, PwC London and Group Accountant for GLH Hotels Management (GLH) UK. Andrea has extensive knowledge in PIE structures, property, property funds, construction, forestry and ETS and consequently is the champion and first point of contact for these areas.

Andrea is a member of the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and holds a Bachelor of Business Studies (First Class Honours) and Post Graduate Diploma (First Class Honours) from Massey University, Auckland.

Philip Seel.

Consultant, Financial Accounting Services

Philip joined Acclime New Zealand in 1999 after working for Deloitte in New Zealand and overseas and also at Housing New Zealand. Philip has been a director since 2001.

Philip works with clients in industries ranging from health, bloodstock, public sector and retail. His aim is to provide simple, effective advice in business structures, financing, and taxation compliance. He often attends client Board meetings to present financial reports.

Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Peter Clark.

Consultant, Financial Accounting Services

Peter Clark joined Acclime New Zealand in 1987 and has been a Director since 1996. Peter has an extremely stable and loyal client base and believes the key to this is the down to earth relationship that he enjoys with his clients.

He specialises in providing advice to small and medium-sized businesses in a number of areas including Inland Revenue compliance requirements, taxation planning, trusts, structuring rental property investments, business acquisitions and business start-ups.

Martyn Henderson.

Director

Martyn is a Director of Acclime New Zealand. He works with clients across a wide range of industries, including FMCG, professional services, manufacturing, cryptocurrency and property. Many of his clients operate internationally, and he has significant experience advising on cross-border structures and transactions, both inbound to and outbound from New Zealand.

Martyn joined The Advisory Group (now Acclime New Zealand) in 2008, following 10 years at two large Auckland-based accounting firms. He has over 25 years of experience in tax and business advisory services. Martyn has also held CFO roles, providing him with practical experience in strategic planning, budgeting, monthly financial reporting and financial management.

Martyn holds a Bachelor of Business and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from New Zealand. He is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.

Sudhir Lala.

Director

Sudhir is the Director of Acclime New Zealand. In his role, Sudhir works with a broad spectrum of clients, including business and professional firms, as well as high-net-worth individuals. His focus is on helping them achieve business success by providing tailored structuring advice and delivering tax and financial services to meet each client’s unique objectives. Additionally, Sudhir serves as a Trustee for several client Trusts, ensuring that they fulfil their intended purposes, comply with relevant legislation and are governed correctly.

Sudhir has had a diverse career trajectory, starting with Ernst & Young in Business Advisory Services, where he gained valuable experience assisting clients with proactive and practical business solutions. He then transitioned to The Advisory Group as one of its inaugural staff members in 2006. In 2017, Sudhir, along with his business partner Martyn Henderson, completed a management buy-out to take over the company. The Advisory Group was acquired by Acclime Global in 2024.

Sudhir is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Brendan Lewis.

Associate Director

Brendan is an Associate Director in the business advisory team at Acclime New Zealand. He works with a wide range of businesses and private wealth clients, including trusts and high-net-worth individuals. He has extensive experience with large corporate groups and clients holding substantial commercial property portfolios, and his expertise includes supporting due diligence for business acquisitions and sales.

He began his career in 2007 at a mid-tier Chartered Accounting firm in Hawke’s Bay before moving into a commercial role in Auckland, where he led the finance team for an international business. In 2019, Brendan joined The Advisory Group as a Senior Manager. Brendan then became an Associate Director of The Advisory Group in 2022, and in 2024, the firm was acquired by Acclime Global.

Brendan holds a Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in accounting, from the Eastern Institute of Technology in Hawke’s Bay and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Graham Lawrence.

Director

Graham leads the Tax Practice in New Zealand and has significant experience in tax and international expansion services including providing clients with innovative solutions to complex issues. Graham is also a regular author and speaker on tax topics.

Graham’s experience has included working with leading companies across all sectors in New Zealand. Graham continues to be a judge on the Auckland Business awards from 2022 to present and has been selected by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to present in the US, Asia and Europe on tax implications to inbound investors including under immigration visas.

Outside of New Zealand, Graham is actively involved with business in US, Australia, Europe, Middle East, and Asia. Graham is in the US for one month a year assisting NZ owned businesses structuring their entry into the US.
